What to Expect
AFAS provides an insider's access to the art world, customized to your organization’s requirements. Through our network of professionals, we coordinate the full range of services associated with art collecting. A representative engagement may include the following aspects:
Planning
- Personal meeting with Client to review art requirements, including aesthetic preferences, budget, and time frames.
- Define overall art collection goals and develop specific objectives for the current engagement.
- Submit detailed proposal and budget to Client.
- Evaluate the space(s) available for installation of artworks: dimensions, use of space, placement of artworks, and security requirements.
- If desired by the Client, review existing collection to evaluate which artworks to retain, reframe, reposition, restore or sell.
- Pre-selection/screening of prospective artworks for purchase or lease from national and international art galleries, art dealers, unaffiliated artists, and auction houses.
- For commissioned works, selection of artists and definition of project scope and nature of undertaking.
- Presentation of art options to Client.
- Assistance selecting artworks, if desired.
Acquisition & Installation
- Negotiate terms for the purchase or lease of art on the Client's behalf.
- Commission artists to create site-specific works.
- Professional framing, lighting and installation.
- Coordinate security and insurance requirements.
- Written documentation of artworks, including digitized images.
Ancillary Services
- Educational presentations to enhance knowledge, understanding and appreciation of art, including the client’s art program and, more generally, art movements, artists’ techniques, and media.
- Educational presentations to enhance the pleasure of collecting whether for public display, investment, personal enjoyment, or all of the above.
- Collection management including maintenance, restoration, rotation and/or resale of items in a collection.
